I drink.
I party.
I’ll let you guess what else I do the best and they never get any seconds with me. One and done.
The choices I make guarantee I’m never the one left behind.
I say and do what I want with no regrets; now I’m ordered to attend anger management to keep my job.
The problem? My failure of a one night stand is now running the group, but I’ve spent my time running and avoiding him at any cost.

My job, my house, my car…my life is exactly how I want it to be except in the relationship department. Jamie has a ridiculous one and done rule. I know one taste will never be enough. If she thinks this is over, she has never been more wrong.

I’m determined to prove to her that rules were made to be broken and that we are worth breaking them.

Gavin comes out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist and droplets of water coming down his tanned back. I could effortlessly masturbate to the sight of him but, once again, not enough time in the schedule. I start to get pissed and, before I know it, I’m slamming the coffee cups on the counter.

 “Jamie, what’s going on?”

“Nothing really, I’m just upset we don’t have time this morning.”

“Why do we need more time? You look ready for work.”

“I wanted to make an excellent breakfast today.”

Gavin walks into the kitchen, his towel still around his waist. “I think there is more to it.” He walks up to me, leaving no distance between us. The towel is barely hanging on, and I’m thoroughly distracted. “Jamie, is there something more?” He pushes his body up to me, and I can feel his dick through his towel. He drops his towel and places both hands on my breasts, massaging them.

“Fuck.” I step away from him.

Gavin chuckles. “Now, I just gave you a reason to come back.” He picks up his towel and walks to his bedroom to get ready for the day.  I think Gavin Rodgers just one-upped me.

I manage to eat my bagel, and I place my bag in front of the door. I’m a little bit disappointed, to tell you the truth. Feeling this way puts things in perspective. Gavin makes me want more, and I know from experience that I will end up being hurt.

Gavin stands for everything that I’m not. He is the white picket fence, and I’m the dilapidated house in the hood. The clarity of the moment is precisely what I needed, but not necessarily what I wanted. I tidy up the kitchen, making sure I leave no mess for Gavin or his housekeeper to clean up.

“Ready to head out,” he says. “We can stop at Starbucks to get some coffee to take to work?”

I look down at my phone, double checking the time. I’m ready to get out of here. “Sure, I think we have enough time. Just promise me we won’t be late for work.”

“I promise to have you at work on time, and no funny business, ma’am.” I could easily get distracted by this man this morning. He is wearing black dress pants, a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up on his forearms, and a fancy pair of Italian dress shoes. I love how a guy’s hair takes no effort. Gavin’s hair looks like he just put his hands through it.  Yet, it’s perfection.  He picks up my bag and heads out to his car.

★✯★✯  BLOG TOUR ★✯★✯

Welcome to the Blog Tour for Spark by Tracy Brenton

I might be inexperienced, but that’s not going to stop me from saving my brothers business. Even if HE gets in my way.
He might be a black belt mechanic, but that doesn’t make him the boss.
The only problem is, I can’t seem to stop kissing him.
I won’t let him distract me. I won’t, dammit.

When Alex Vance flees back home to Tempest Beach, she is horrified to find her brother, Dan, is in an induced coma after rescuing their parents from a fire.

She decides to take over management of his motor workshop so that he has a business to come back to when he wakes up.

The only problem is the head mechanic, Jake Lawson, who thinks he should be in charge.

Black belt martial artist Jake has plans that don’t include the sweet, but sassy Alex. She might be smart, but a business degree isn’t going to help her change engine oil or replace a wheel bearing.

Sparks fly between the two and, despite their differences, they can’t seem to stop KISSING.

When the bank threatens to foreclose they have to work together to find a way to save Dan’s business.

The stakes are raised when a shady loan shark wants payback and soon Alex is fighting for Dan’s life as well as his livelihood. And if she can’t find a way to repay the debt, she will be the one who pays the price.

Throw in a kick-ass crew of sexy martial artists and you’ve got yourself a delicious mix of adventure, mystery and mayhem, complete with a gorgeous beachside location and a love at first sight affair.

Jake takes one look at me as I enter the foyer and drops to his knees in front of me. Actually, that’s not quite right.

He launches himself towards me from where he’s standing, chatting to Baz and Elise. In a perfectly-timed manoeuvre he hits his knees on the polished floor a metre away from me and dramatically slides the rest of the way. It must kill his knees, but he doesn’t miss a beat.

“Be still, my beating heart.” He has both hands clasped to his chest.

All eyes are on us. Half a dozen ladies from the beginners’ class are milling around, chatting, but they’ve gone silent. A wolf whistle pierces the air. Baz. He’s leaning casually against the reception counter with Elise. They both watch me and I feel my face heating up with embarrassment.

Jake grabs my hand and brings it to his lips and everyone else fades away. His mouth lingers, his tongue touching the back of my hand sending a spark of electricity through me. Then, I kid you not, he levitates.

I think it’s a trick of the light.

One minute he’s on his knees and two seconds later he’s on his feet. It has to be some sort of martial arts move. He dips his body slightly towards the floor then springs upwards and brings his feet underneath him to stand. He never lets go of my hand.

Hi there, I’m Tracy!

My favourite books to read are “kissing books” (full credit to ‘The Princess Bride’) and it’s safe to say if there isn’t at least a little bit of romance in a story then I’ll probably lose interest. So it won’t come as a surprise to learn that all of the stories I write have a romance at their core. Even the zombie ones!

I love all things creative, take way too many pictures of beachside sunsets and all the pretty flowers, and I believe in love at first sight.

The Final Lesson by Shakyra Dunn

The Final Lesson (Redone).jpg

Leilana Erovina’s got a bid for power as she takes the final test to become one of her realm’s Warlords. As such, she sets out to travel the lands of Adrylis and log magical totems from respectful folk with only one hitch—no ancestral help. The quest is a pilgrimage to learn the basics of human nature. Some would call concepts like gentleness and passion fables of the heart.

In another perspective, war brews in the kingdom of Linmus, throwing Adrylis into chaos. Prince Remiel Vesarus finds himself in exile, vengeance on his mind for those who tore his life asunder. His attendant Solus Brenner at his side, they plan on restoring their kingdom against all odds.

Fate has drawn these two parties together. Conjoined at the hip, the traveler, prince and right-hand will learn the old saying of magic: “It always comes with a price.”

“U-Um, Leilana?” Leilana glanced up, finding the girl with lavender hair reaching the middle of her back, her bangs covering her forehead, nearly reaching her cerulean eyes. Her cheeks were coated pink, rivaling the shade of her knee-length dress. “There aren’t, um… there’s only a few of us left. Do you want to pair up?”

“Sure thing, uh…” Leilana glanced up at the sky in thought before holding up a finger in realization. “It’s Amelia, right?”

“Amiria,” she corrected sharply, her face reddening more at the affliction of her voice. Sure, the pronunciation had its similarities, but the syllables differed. And that passion of wanting her name to stick was working its wonders in Leilana’s mind. “Amiria Farone.”

“Sorry, sorry,” Leilana interjected, waving a hand in dismissal. “Didn’t mean to upset you.”

“O-Oh!” Amiria held up both hands and took a step back from Leilana, trembling a bit. “It’s fine, you didn’t! I-I’m sorry if I made it seem like I was angry, I’m really not, I promise-”

“Hey now, Amiria, no need to be so scared.” Kindall wrapped an arm around the girl’s shoulders, smirking. “Lei doesn’t bite, not usually.” Amiria held her arms behind her back and turned her head to keep from looking him in the eye.

“It’s Leilana,” Leilana said abruptly. “Not Lei, not Leila, it is Leilana. Live it, learn it, love it.”

Kindall raised an eyebrow at her words as he set Amiria free and allowed her to run off towards Hinju to prepare for her own duel. “Geez, no need to be so crabby. It was just a little fun with friends.”

“We aren’t friends, Kindall.” He jumped back at the proclamation. “We’re students at the same school fighting for the same goal. That doesn’t make us friends, does it?”

“Well, I, uh… I guess not…? But don’t you think it’s better for everyone that we tried to get along and be friends? You’re right, we’re all fighting for the same goal. Some of us are going to be Warlords someday, and we can all support each other until we get there. Right?” Leilana pondered his words before she cleared her throat.

“…I’m sorry. I’ve got a match.” She stepped past him, and Kindall stared at her back a moment longer before sighing, reclaiming his spot on one of the logs.

“You really are just a kid after all,” Kindall mumbled.

Leilana stood opposite Amiria, revealing her grimoire for her opponent to view. Amiria clutched the silver flute in her hands for dear life but kept her attention on the girl and even managed to narrow her eyes to try and stir up some intimidation.

“Come to think of it,” Lancett whispered to Kindall, “I’ve never seen Amiria fight before. She doesn’t seem like she’d hurt a fly.”

“No, she doesn’t,” Kindall replied, retaining focus on the two. “But Amiria has skills that a lot of people don’t understand.”

Leilana rapidly flipped through the pages of her grimoire and an array of fireballs shot out at the girl. Amiria put the flute up to her lips and closed her eyes, playing out a small melody on the instrument before reflecting the magic back in Leilana’s direction. Leilana side-stepped out of the way, her eyes darting between the singed grass and Amiria herself, who was starting up another melody on her flute. She scoffed before flipping through the grimoire, stopping on a page, mumbling a scripture.

From the book, a pair of teeming hands cloaked in shadows emerged, grabbing the flute from Amiria’s grasp and snapping it in half before her very eyes. Amiria blinked away the tears starting up as she stared at her destroyed instrument, collecting the fractured pieces. With each passing second, her eyes grew dark and clouded. Leilana outstretched her right palm, sending the hands propelling towards her. Before they could reach her, Amiria inhaled deeply and closed her eyes, belting out a single high note in a pitch of middle C.

The single note, prolonged over several seconds, caused the hands to shatter away. Leilana froze as the note progressed, the ground around her beginning to tremble before giving way under her. She let out a shriek as the chasm opened, reaching out a hand as she fell. Amiria gasped when she realized what was occurring, covering her mouth with both hands.

“Leilana!” Lancett raced forward, sliding on his side as he ran, grabbing her by the arm. Several other students rushed to his aide, helping the girl out of the chasm. Leilana laid a hand on her chest, finding it difficult to regain herself, her frame quivering from shock. Lancett gently placed both hands on her shoulders, forcing her to face him. “Are you all right?”

“Y-Yeah, just… just a little shaken up…”

He bowed his head, hands still on her shoulders, sighing heavily. “Good. I’m glad.” Hinju was still in a bit of shock himself, his gaze reflected on Amiria now, who continued to put the pieces together in her mind about what she had done. After coming to his senses, he held up his staff, moving stalagmites of the earth back into place to mend the open crater, sealing it shut.

“I-I… I am so sorry, Leilana!” Amiria choked out, taking one step back after another. “I-I don’t… I don’t know what happened, I just…! I’m sorry!”

“It’s okay,” Leilana replied softly. “I’m not dead or anything.”

“Hey, don’t beat yourself up over it,” she interjected, “Don’t worry. I’m fine. I promise.” Leilana heaved a sigh. “Okay, maybe not completely true, I’m a little bummed that I lost so terribly, and so fast. After all that work I put into learning the concepts of the Lasette…”

“Remember what Master said,” Lancett told her, smirking. “It’s all a learning experience. You can definitely do better next time.” She averted her gaze from him.

Technically Married_FINAL!

Their love always sizzled but after a misunderstanding, it suddenly fizzled. What drove them apart might just be what brings them back together again.

Max is a good guy. He’s rich, handsome, smart and normal. Things are getting pretty serious between us but there’s a problem—technically, I’m already married to a starving artist rock star wannabe.

When my former best friend invited me to her celebrity bridal shower, I went mainly out of curiosity. When she asked me to be her maid of honor though, I wanted to run for the hills. If I didn’t need my estranged husband to sign those divorce papers, I actually would have.

Instead of giving me a divorce, he gave me something else. The truth about the ending of our marriage.

Suddenly, my life with Max doesn’t seem so appealing. The rock star I had run from for all those years is suddenly the man who’s awakened something in me—something I thought had died a long time ago. And damnit, it feels frickin’ amazing!

“Hi, it’s me, Jay Marrow. You might remember that little dance I did earlier while trying to fish out the rings from my jacket. Well, I’m happy to say that my dancing days are behind me.” Everyone laughed at this. He was a natural on stage. Always had been. “It’s my first time being a best man and I have to be honest, I didn’t realize I had to give a speech.” The crowd laughed again. “I’m serious.” Even more laughter. “I do have a song for the couple, though.”

He strummed a few chords to warm up then began plucking the strings. His voice came out in the most beautifully haunting way. He sang the sweetest, saddest love song I had ever heard about a couple finding their destiny.

A stormy sky and an angry sea

Couldn’t keep you away from me

When all is said and done

You’ll still be the one

There wasn’t a dry eye in the place—including mine—as he sang. He even got a standing ovation.

“Okay, now da matron ov honor,” Greta announced after Jay had left the stage.

I grabbed a bottle of wine as I made my way to the stage. I had no idea what I was going to say but whatever, I can wing it. How hard could it be to give a speech? Pretty hard, because when I took the microphone and looked out into the sea of people, I froze.

N. Franko is a reader of all things funny, romantic, magic, scary, dirty or nerdy-basically anything that’s words on a page.

A huge fan of authors like Chuck Palahniuk and Sophie Kinsella, she spent much of her days daydreaming of being an author while failing hard as a reporter and production artist for a small town newspaper before taking the plunge and writing her first book, Technically Scripted.

When she’s not writing, she’s playing drums in a noisy synth-pop band with her rock star husband, annoyingly taking pictures of everything, drinking coffee or watching an obscene amount of television.

Abruptly she turned around, “Let’s go, we still have to go a few miles in front of us.” Her voice was terse, not the love struck fool she was only moments before. She took two heavy steps, punishing the ground with her frustration, she felt Drake pull on her elbow. He groaned, and pushed her against a tree, before she could figure out what was happening, he kissed her. He dominated her, his hand wrapped around the nape of her neck, he held her steady and pulled her close. He slanted his mouth over hers, his lips moved possessively over hers. It was a hot, wet, and deliciously sensual kiss. She did melt for him, her legs became weak, and her eyes closed. That must happen to him a lot, because he wrapped his free arm around her waist, effectively holding her up pressed against his body. She could feel his hard chest, and something hard pressed against her belly. Priscilla felt his tongue caress her lips. She didn’t know what to do, should she use her tongue too? She opened to him and without hesitation, he pushed his tongue inside her mouth. He explored her mouth, their tongues tangled and rolled together. The sensation of having someone’s tongue pressed against hers, moving along hers was erotic. She moaned. Then he pulled back. It took a few moments of kissing the air, before Priscilla heard the soft chuckle in front of her. She opened her eyes, as he wiped his lips with the back of his hand, and laughed at her. “Exactly like I said. You melted for me, just like all the others do. Nothing is different about you.” Her anger boiled over, he was laughing at her? He ruined her first kiss with his careless words. Something otherworldly came over her, she could feel the moment her control snapped and she lost the hold she had over her power. “Stop!” she said quietly, and everything stopped. Every sound in the forest ceased, the purple loisips stopped croaking. The anteline’s long brown bodies no longer jumped from tree to tree above them. There was no breeze, it was all locked in place by her magic. She took a menacing step toward Drake, her head tilted in examination. She was a passenger inside her body, it moved without thought, and not even her voice belonged to her. The voice she heard was deeper and husky.

Key To Her Heart by Ellie Rice

She wants no guilt. He wants no commitment. Fate laughs in their faces.

Because of my past, I’m destined to be alone. Don’t feel sorry for me. I deserve it and I’ve made my peace. But I was given a reprieve. A one-week, scorching hot vacation fling. Now I’m not sure if it was grace or punishment.

Playboy. Player. I’m called by many names. I’ve earned every one. That was the fault of one woman. At my best friend’s wedding, I put my particular talents to good use. And got a taste of what I had sworn off for good. Now I’m questioning what I really want.
What happens when a one-week affair between two emotionally unavailable people spills over into the real world?

Universal Links:

What a ridiculous waste of a night. I couldn’t sleep for shit because I couldn’t get HER off my mind. My dick was rock hard half the night and semi-hard the rest of the night. I had to jerk it off before I came downstairs. Hell if I was going to have Celine see me with a hard-on! That being taken care of, I shrugged on a pair of cotton lounge pants. I didn’t bother with a shirt or shoes. The only sound in the quiet house was my bare feet hitting the tile. Luckily, I was the first one up, so crisis averted. I was going to need a shit-ton of coffee in me to get through the day, so I started a pot. I had half of it down when she walked in the kitchen.

Fuck. Me.

She was wearing nothing more than a thin light pink tank top and a very short pair of sleep shorts in the same shade of pink. The girls who wore pink were always these giddy, immature creatures. They were girls, not women. Constantly giggling at stupid shit. The sound made me want to stab myself in the ears with hot steel rods. Suddenly, all I could hear was Aerosmith singing of the virtues of pink, my new favorite color.

She wasn’t wearing a bra. Her perfect tits were outlined by the material. I saw the entire outline of her nipples through her top.

Great, now I’m fucking hard again.

She stopped when she saw me. At first, I wondered if my obvious woody scared her, but I was hidden by the island buffet. There was no way she could see it. Her skin blushed all over. What could she be embarrassed about?

I was holding the coffee pot in my hand. I raised it and asked, “Want some?”

She blushed even more. Damn, she looked so fucking good. It took every bit of strength I had to keep from laying her down across the counter, right now.

Valerie let go of a shy smile, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. “Yeah, I could really use some coffee.” She sat down at one of the breakfast bar stools.

Coffee? Oh yeah, I’m holding the fucking pot. Pour her some coffee, shithead!

I took a mug from the cabinet and filled it. “Creamer?”

She nodded.

“There’s French vanilla, hazelnut or half and half,” I called from the open fridge.

“Hazelnut,” she answered.

Great, she even drinks her coffee the same as me. Sweet. Twinsies! I snickered at my own sarcastic thoughts and shook my head.

“What’s so funny?” She bristled.

“Easy there, killer. I was just noticing that we drink our coffee the same way and thought Twinsies,” my voice took on a sing-song tone. I fisted my hands under my chin and raised my voice as I said Twinsies like a stupid teenager. I rolled my eyes at myself as I turned to get the creamer from the fridge.

Smooth one, Stone.

She laughed. I turned and stared at her, completely dumbfounded. She had a great laugh. It was nothing like girls who wear pink giggling like brainless zombies. I had no desire to gouge my eardrums.

She cocked her head to one side. “Twinsies, huh? That’s a word I would have bet my life I would have never heard come out of your mouth.” She was smiling brightly. She looked like an angel.

Perrier Simmons has always lived life on the safety–never reckless, always careful. And now, as a resident in her pathology program, she is poised to become a double board certified forensic pathologist.

Thom Edwards is caught in his fate when he learns he has cancer. But to tell Perrie, the woman he loves and who has lost so much already, is harder than dying.

Perrie can’t see the path Thom is on. She never could, even years ago when neither of them expected the deep connection they felt, or how that connection could grow so fast from friendship into something more. Something deep and pure and life-changing…When Thom and Perrie met on that bright summer day at UCSF medical school, so many years ago, it was unclear who saved whom. And when they separate for their respective residency programs they make more important discoveries.

But as Thom’s cancer grows, Perrie is kept farther from the truth.

The Brightest Day concludes the story of two people who met at the right time–a heartbreakingly romantic novel that asks, what do you do when you have to hide the truth from the one you love most, in order to save them?

The Brightest Night must be read before reading The Brightest Day.

The Brightness series is the story about what it means to love with your soul, to sacrifice, to experience grief and blinding joy. To live life with the pain, and the beauty, without knowing if you will be able to smile through tears and still know you wouldn’t have changed a thing.

Bri Stone is happy to be a contemporary romance fiction writer; creating anyone and anything in the romantic world of sins and secrets, lies, and scandal. If she isn’t writing, she is probably reading, binge watching anything on Netflix, or imaging crazy scenarios in her head that will probably never happen. When she is not spending time with her imaginary book friends, she is buried in her Pre-Med classes at the University of Iowa, and a happy English major.
